The Rodgers Family - Season 4, Episode 1

Betsy Rogers, a single mother of eight, is a well-known and much respected figure throughout the community of North Pole, Alaska. In February of this year Betsy took in her brother Rob, a single father of three, after he was diagnosed with kidney failure and had no place to live with his three kids. Now with thirteen people cohabitating in this two-bedroom, 900 square foot home, things are tighter then ever. To make matters worse, their house is literally falling apart around them. Walls are separating from each other, windows are cracked and broken, the front door doesn’t stay shut, the floors are uneven and the bathroom floor is sinking and in danger of rotting through to the ground. Worst of all, the house has no insulation for the cold Alaskan winters where temperatures can reach as low as negative sixty degrees!

In this episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” the Extreme Team travels to the North Pole for a little Christmas in July to give Betsy and her incredible family the best gift any of them could imagine – a new home and a new sense of security.

The Rogers new kitchen was designed using custom KraftMaid maple cabinetry with solid wood beaded door frames, finished in Ginger Glaze and completed with pewter and copper hardware. The full overlay door design was accented using Kraftmaid’s Styx style glass inserts. Both the laundry room and the bathroom were remodeled using white thermofoil cabinets with recessed center panel drawer fronts and copper and pewter knobs. The additional two bathrooms in the Rogers’ new home were built with maple cabinets. The first using solid wood door frames finished in KraftMaid’s Moss Glaze and Matte Nickel Suitcase drawer pulls. The last bathroom was crafted with solid wood mitered door frames in a warm Taupe Glaze finish with Distressed French Lace pulls.
