KraftMaid and the Buy American Act
KraftMaid cabinets are assembled here in the United States by your hard-working and highly-skilled neighbors. With more than 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing facilities in Northeast Ohio, we bring you the same kind of hand-crafted all-wood cabinets that we first sold from our modest shop over 40 years ago.
That’s why we’re proud to declare that the current product offering from KraftMaid® Cabinetry satisfies the “Buy American” requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The Buy American Act is the major domestic preference statute governing procurement by the federal government. Essentially it attempts to protect domestic labor by providing a preference for American goods in government purchases.
Enacted in 1933, the Buy American Act has only been substantively amended four times. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (“The Stimulus Plan”) did not amend the Buy American Act but it did include a provision designed to protect American workers by saving and creating jobs. And as an American employer, that’s a provision we whole-heartedly support.
KraftMaid. It becomes a good neighbor.
