Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 22The Hassall Family
The Hassalls are a family plagued by medical problems. In 1996 Officer Brian Hassall was shot in the line of duty Ðtwice in the leg by a fleeing suspect. Brian works the night shift because he suffers from migraines triggered by daylight. The only place he can sleep is in their damp, dark basement without windows. Michelle, battling a blood disorder and now lymphoma, cannot be in the basement for any length of time because of the dampness, mold and mildew caused by the home’s many plumbing problems.
Because of Michelle’s 20-year battle with a rare blood disorder, the Hassalls were unable to have children of their own so they decided to adopt two children, one of whom is a special needs child born with a cleft palate. Medical bills have wiped out this family’s funds for remodeling their home and all the Hassall’s want is to be able to cherish each day together as a family and spend more time together. In this episode of ’’Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’’, one unique family comprised of four unique people will finally feel like one family under one roof!
The family’s kitchen and laundry room are now well equipped with storage space with KraftMaid’s own Solid Raised style maple cabinets finished in Vanilla Bean Glaze with Matte Nickel Suitcase Pull hardware.
Their daughter Alex’s bedroom and bathroom are a glowing new white with Recessed V-Grooved Thermofoil cabinetry in both rooms accented with Satin Nickel Plaza Knobs. Sam Hassall’s new bedroom and bathroom take on a more masculine look with the steely grey finish of Pewter Glaze on KraftMaid’s Solid Recessed style maple doors.
