Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 21The Gaudet Family
Stephen and Lydia Gaudet of Mobile Alabama are a hard-working couple committed to their children as well as their community. Inspired by their youngest son, who has Down’s Syndrome, they dedicate their time to helping others with special needs and disabilities through their local Easter Seals chapter.
Over the course of the many years they’ve been serving their community, the family home has been severely neglected. Battered by Hurricane Katrina, a small home fire and six children their small home is showing big signs of serious distress. A leaky roof, a crumbling kitchen, and a disastrous bathroom are just a few of the many areas of the family home that need extensive repairs. Unfortunately, Stephen was laid-off from his job as a manager of a tire manufacturer, leaving them financially strapped.
In this episode of Extreme Makeover, the team rebuilds a home for this struggling family that dedicates their time and efforts into the needs of their community.
The Gaudet’s new home was redesigned with Venicia by KraftMaid, the sleek Euro-inspired cabinetry line that reflect a streamlined, modern style. The kitchen and pantry were outfitted with the Capri door style finished in Autumn Cherry Satin accented by Silk glass inserts and Aluminum hardware. The family’s new media room was designed with the cool tones of Graphite Satin stained doors and Glisten glass inserts, completed with Stainless Steel pulls.
The master bathroom was equipped with the Lucerne door style and finished in the neutral Crema Satin, with Antique Brass Banded Spindle pulls. The boy’s bathroom, by contrast, was built with Tivoli cabinetry doors in the high-sheen Graphite Gloss with Stainless Steel bar pulls. Finally, cabinetry in the utility room was selected from KraftMaid’s traditional line of maple wood, finished in creamy Biscotti and complemented by Aged Bronze hardware.
