Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 11The Grommesh Family
Nine-year-old Garrett Grommesh inspired his parents each day to run HOPE, Inc., a non-profit which makes sports and activities accessible to all children and their families. Garrett was born with spina bifida, is paralyzed form the waist down and uses a wheelchair. Through his humor and sense of limitless possibilities he inspires the drive for independence for other children with disabilities. The Grommesh’s home is in good condition, but is not wheelchair accessible. Their current home will be donated to a less fortunate family in Moorehead, while the Extreme Team builds them a house that meets their son’s needs.
The family’s new kitchen was designed with KraftMaid cherry cabinetry stained in Peppercorn, a dark brown finish with black overtones. Bistro glass inserts were selected to enhance the doors and decorative hardware from the Trunk Collection. Maple wood was chosen for the laundry room cabinets, which were finished in Toffee with Simplicity drawer pulls. Cabinetry was installed in the bedroom with Dove White on maple and Aluminum Integrated Angled pulls. Finally, in the master bath, the neutral Canvas with Cocoa Glaze finish was selected as well as Bistro glass inserts and Venetian Bronze Rustic knobs to embellish the maple cabinetry.
