Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 3

Episode 16The Crawford-Smith Family

Carol Crawford Smith is a dancer who can no longer dance. In January of 2000, after noticing numbness and fatigue, Carol was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Six months later she was using a walker. Once a ballerina, Carol now has difficulty moving around in her own home!

As a physically challenged single mother of two boys, Carol has a hard time navigating her sunken living room, getting to the laundry in the basement, or steps up to the kitchen. Carol’s dream has always been to have a residence and dance studio in one! In this episode of ’’Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’’, the design team will get dance lessons and expert advice from the one and only Debbie Allen as we learn how to better accommodate the needs of another dancer who continues to inspire - step by vital step!

Five of the brand new rooms in the Smith home were outfitted with custom KraftMaid cabinetry made from solid, sturdy maple wood. Both the entryway and the kitchen were crafted with a Solid Raised door style and finished in Biscotti with Coconut Glaze with brushed pewter knobs and door pulls.

Carol’s bedroom and bathroom suite were fashioned with a Veneer Recessed door style in Frost Glaze, completed with stainless steel pulls and beautiful Cascade glass inserts. Her sons’ bathroom was also adorned with Cascade inserts in the Sedona stlye doors with a Cashmere Glaze finish.
