Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 3

Episode 17The Kubena Family

The odds of identical twins getting the same form of childhood leukemia at the same time are astronomical, but that’s exactly what happened to the Kubena family.

Diagnosed at age two, Tara and Sara together have endured several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation before they were declared to be in remission. But then, recently, Tara relapsed. She received a bone marrow transplant, but now she must be isolated from her siblings as children carry a lot of germs, which could kill her. Wracked with years of double medical bills, the Kubenas cannot afford to add on anything to their tiny abode to accommodate their sick daughter’s needs.

In this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the design team will demo their very first trailer and make room for Tara to recover.

In addition to Tara’s new space, the Kubenas received custom KraftMaid cabinetry in many additional rooms, including the kitchen were maple cabinets were finished in the deep brown Ginger Glaze, with Aged Bronze hardware. The family’s new bonus room was completed with Natural finished birch wood cabinets in KraftMaid’s Veneer Recessed door style.

Both the study loft and the third bathroom were outfitted in KraftMaid cabinets finished in Pewter Glaze with matching Hammered Pewter knobs and pulls, while the master bath and utility room were completed with cherry wood.
