Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 19The Rainford Family
Jamaican-born Dunstan Rainford had just fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a U.S. citizen when the unthinkable happened. Dunstan, a one-time hospice aide, was told he had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Throughout his treatments, Dunstan has stayed positive telling his children, ’’something good will come of this’’. They believed him until Hurricane Wilma ravaged their home in September, tearing off a portion of their roof and destroying the interior. Before Wilma and his diagnosis, Dunstan was trying to repair his home one room at a time. But, every last penny went towards the roof and then, his medical expenses. Because of his illness, he cannot work and cannot afford to fix his house.
In this episode of ’’Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’’, the Design Team will head off to West Palm Beach, Florida to grant this former Hospice worker his last dying wish Ð a new home for his family.
The Rainford’s kitchen was refurbished with KraftMaid’s beaded solid raised door style cabinets in the Ginger Glaze finish, complete with Cascade glass inserts. Dunstan’s new bathroom was outfitted in the same door style, but finished in the deeper Kaffe finish with Venetian Bronze hardware.
Both the utlity room and the new ’’Cobbler’s Den’’ are equipped with Kraftmaid’s maple wood cabinets in Toffee with stainless steel bar pulls, while the hall bathroom has a crisp new look with White Thermofoil cabinetry.
