Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 26The Turner Family
At 16 years-old, a car accident would change Beverly Turner’s life forever. Told she could never have children of her own, Beverly has adopted special needs children that suffer from bi-polar disorder, autism and blindness. Knowing that most of these kids came from homes where they were abused or neglected, Beverly was happy to provide them with a loving home.
Beverly’s life would take yet another turn on September 9th 2005: Instead of waking up in a house filled with love and laughter, the Turner family awoke to a house filled with smoke and fire caused by faulty electrical wiring. A single mother and her nine special needs children were now homeless.
Now that the smoke has cleared, ’’Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’’ will answer the call of the community as they head to Irvington, New Jersey to help a very deserving mom and her very special family!
The Turner’s new home includes a parlor area, kitchen and great room that are all finished with the custom style of KraftMaid cabinetry. These three rooms were outfitted with maple cabinets in a veneer recessed door style, finished in KraftMaid’s Biscotti with Coconut Glaze with Brushed pewter knobs and drawer pulls. Glass inserts accented many of the cabinets in the kitchen and parlor.
Both the hallway bathroom and the girls’ new bathroom were rebuilt using KraftMaid’s veneer recessed cabinetry in a Natural finish color. These clean, crisp new bathrooms were completed with satin pewter knobs and satin chrome door pulls.
The Turner’s new loft area was also finished in Natural cabinetry, using KraftMaid’s veneer recessed birch wood doors and included Bistro glass inserts and finished off with stainless steel bar pulls.
