Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 3

Episode 3The Barrett Family

The Barrett family started out small. Billy Jack and Anne were a well-known couple in the equestrian field. After having two children of their own, they discovered there were many more kids that needed a loving home - and they were just the couple to provide that environment.

Colorado’s Department of Human Services had labeled them ’’unmanageable’’ - the children that nobody wanted. Children with mental and behavioral problems that were out of control - until the Barretts took them in. They worked with these kids, taught them and loved them, and eventually adopted the ’’unadoptable’’. Dusty, Daphne, AJ and Jennifer are now healthy and productive members of the Barrett family.

Anne gave up her job to home-school the children in a make-shift classroom, which used to be their garage. If that weren’t enough, the Barretts were hoping to take in more children in need, but a lack of bedroom space in their small home prohibited them from adding to their family. Enter Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, who in this episode expand the Barrett house, making it possible for them to give even more kids a place to call home.

As part of that expansion, KraftMaid cabinetry was added to each of the rooms. The kitchen, great room and the boy’s bathroom were all outfitted with the strong and stylish Townsend style oak cabinets. The woodsy Moss Glaze finish in the boy’s bathroom and the deep Kaffe finish in the kitchen and living areas created a comfort quality to the Barrett’s new home. While the creamy Taupe and Chocolate Glaze colors in the girl’s and the master bathrooms brought a soft texture to their rooms. The garage-turned-school house was not left out, with Natural Hickory cabinets added with satin silver knobs to complete this wonderful home and school environment.
