Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 4

Episode 10The Ripatti-Pearce Family

Tim Pearce and Kristina Ripatti both work in law enforcement in Los Angeles. The two were married in 2003 and now have a 15-month old daughter, Jordan. However, tragedy struck their lives when a gang member shot Kristina during a pursuit. She is paralyzed from the chest down and is still in the hospital. She is said to still be alive due to her level of physical fitness. She is confined to a wheelchair and endures a rigorous physical therapy regime.

Tim’s mom, Jean has now moved into their house and plans to be a full time caregiver to both Kristina and Jordan. This family is so loved in the community and a family friend has agreed to swap houses with them. The land that the other home is on is more conducive to building a house that would serve Kristina’s needs. In this episode, the Extreme Team travels to Redondo Beach to support a local hero and build Kristina a new home.

The family’s new home is customized to suit Kristina’s needs, including custom cabinetry by KraftMaid. The kitchen and laundry rooms were both designed with maple cabinets and finished in the cool tones of Wedgewood Glaze. Stainless Steel Bar pulls accent the doors and drawers while the kitchen boasts Windswept glass inserts. Grandma Jean’s new bathroom is also outfitted with Wedgewood Glaze cabinetry made of heart oak wood and Satin Silver knobs adorn the doors. While little Jordan’s room sparkles with birch wood cabinets in the creamy Bisque Glaze finish and Scrolled Glass knobs.
