Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 4

Episode 6The Thibodeau Family

Siehera Thibodeau’s little body has been through so much in her twelve years on earth. Born with a large hole in her heart, she just returned home from her fourth surgery after a long four-week hospital stay. In order for Siehera to fully recover, her house needs massive improvements. South Dakota winters are very harsh and cold and the house has no true source of heatÑthey use a portable space heater to heat the entire house. Siehera has been opened up so many times that she is very susceptible to infection. If she gets sick (a cold, pneumonia) during this vital recovery, she will end up back in the hospital.

Insurance has never covered Siehera’s condition and they have major medical bills that average $700 a month. These medical bills make it impossible for them to make house repairs. In this episode of Extreme Makeover, the team goes to South Dakota to rebuild a home that will provide a warm and safe shelter for an ailing little girl and her family.

The entire home was outfitted with KraftMaid custom cabinetry including the kitchen and great room, where light finished cabinets make the room a grand welcoming area. The kitchen’s hickory wood doors were finished in Natural stain, while the great room’s maple cabinetry in the off-white Bisque Glaze are accented by Chatsworth style glass inserts.

The family’s new bathrooms each received individual designs to suite their occupants. The master bathroom was done in the creamy Vanilla Bean Glaze, with drawers accented by Satin Silver pulls. Siehera’s bath reflects a cool tone with maple cabinetry in Pewter Glaze with Aluminum drawer pulls. Down the hallway, the boy’s bathroom provides a contrasting design, with the deep red of KraftMaid’s Garnet Glaze finished cabinets, topped off with Stainless Steel Bar pulls.
