Episode 13The Woodhouse Family

Ten-year-old Kayla Woodhouse feels no pain, and this precarious rare condition can kill her. In 1997, Kayla was one of the 25 diagnosed people in the world to suffer from Hereditary Sensory Autonomic The Woodhouse family relocated to Colorado Springs, CO, and the family’s financial situation took a turn for the worse as the extensive trips to the doctor sprung forth even larger medical bills.

With nowhere to go, and no money to help, the Woodhouse family has been living with friends at a retirement home. This has led to thousands of people petitioning and the local media nominating the family for help. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has heard the call and faces the challenge to build an industrial strength well air conditioned home for Kayla and her family.

The Woodhouse family’s new home was designed with custom KraftMaid cabinetry in many rooms, including the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. Chocolate stained cherry wood was chosen for the kitchen, with Antiquity glass door inserts and Antique Copper and Pewter drawer pulls accenting the cabinetry. Maple wood cabinets outfit the new laundry room cabinetry, which was finished in the golden-hued Amber Glaze with Brushed Pewter door knobs completing the room.

Kaffe, a rich brown stain was the color of choice in the master bathroom, where KraftMaid’s cherry wood doors were finished with the sleek Stainless Steel Bar pulls. Two additional bathrooms were designed in maple cabinetry with the Muslin finish, an oatmeal tone with Matte Nickel Suitcase pulls.
