Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 5

Episode 14The Luther Family

After Renee Luther grew up on her Maryland farm, she became a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. She then came home to her farm and started the Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program, now in its 25th year of operation. She and her husband Carl had plans to expand the riding facilities as well as repair their family home when Carl was tragically diagnosed with liver cancer and passed away three short months later.

In this episode, the Extreme Makeover team will rebuild Renee’s home, along with the Freedom Hills Riding Center, and allow Renee to fulfill the promise she made to her husband of completing their dream after he died.

The Luther family’s new home was designed with KraftMaid cabinetry, starting in the kitchen where the creamy, off-white Vanilla Bean Glaze was chosen for the maple cabinets. Prism glass door inserts were used as an accent as well as Antique Copper and Pewter hardware. Birch wood was used to craft the study’s new cabinetry, stained in Kaffe, a dark brown tone off-set with Antiquity door inserts. The same glass inserts were used in the mud room, which was outfitted in KraftMaid’s Cognac-finished cabinets, and completed with Brushed Pewter knobs and pulls.
