Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 5

Episode 17The Hughes Family

Patrick Henry Hughes is a remarkable young man who was born without eyes and without the ability to fully straighten his arms and legs, making him unable to walk. Despite circumstances that seem overwhelming, Patrick has overcome these physical issues to excel as a musician and student.

As Patrick Henry grows older it becomes increasingly difficult for him to maneuver through their humble home. His brother’s and parents do their best to assist him, but the house is in desperate need of help. Patrick’s wheel chair has done extensive damage to the walls and his Parents fear for Patrick’s safety, as he grows more and more independent. In this episode, the Extreme Team travels to Louisville to rebuild a home to accommodate all of Patrick’s needs.

Beginning in the kitchen, KraftMaid cabinetry can be seen throughout the family’s new home. Oatmeal Glaze was chosen to finish the new maple wood cabinets, accented by Bistro glass inserts and Matte Nickel hardware. Satin Nickel door knobs were used in the great room, where the rich look of the Kaffe finish was selected for the cherry cabinetry.

The kitchenette and adjoining laundry room was designed with the warm grey of Pewter Glaze cabinets, which were completed with Stainless Steel Bar pulls. The master bath, outfitted with maple cabinets, was finished in the oatmeal-toned Muslin with Satin Silver drawer pulls.
