Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 5

Episode 20The Boettcher Family

Steve and Mary Boettcher are heavily involved in youth ministry in their home town of Stagecoach, Nevada. They started working with local youth because the town was averaging three kids each year dying, either from suicide or drunk driving. Since they have been working with the youth, they have seen those statistics drop. They’ve been working on getting a youth center built in the city. They have 10 acres of land that has been donated but no one has offered to help build it.

Steve and Mary live with their daughter Stephanie and her son Joshua. Joshua has a series of medical problems and is due to have a surgery soon. They live in a 1972 mobile home with an addition totaling 1,200 square feet. The ceiling is falling in, and the septic overflows due to all of the kids that are at their house. They had money to work on the house but chose to convert their garage into a youth center for the area kids instead. In this episode, the Extreme Team builds a home for this family who is working to build a safer community for children.

The Boettcher’s new home was designed with custom KraftMaid cabinetry in many rooms including the new Youth Center Kitchen. Venicia by KraftMaid was chosen for the kitchen, with the Tivoli door style used, stained in Onyx Satin. Stainless Steel Bar pulls were used to accent the doors.

In the Boettcher’s master bathroom, cherry wood cabinets were installed in Kaffe, a deep brown hue, with Satin Pewter Square knobs completing the look. The laundry room was outfitted with White Thermofoil cabinets and Satina glass inserts accent the doors. Finally, the family’s new kitchen was designed using Peppercorn-finished cabinetry. Bistro glass inserts were chosen for the doors and Aluminum Half Round Bar pulls adorned the door and drawers.
