Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 5

Episode 23The Martinez Family

Gerald Martinez lived a comfortable life in the Colorado Mountains with his family of seven until he was offered a job at a local church and he moved his family from CO to Trumball, NM. The community welcomed Gerald and his family with open arms and embraced the fact that he wanted to clean up the neighborhood and rid the area of violence.

The Martinez family began renovating the neighborhood one block at a time. But upkeep and renovations have proved to be very daunting, and the financial needs have also become too great for the family to meet on their own. They do not charge rent, and they only ask for money for utilities and such if the residents have it to spare.

This family has given everything they have to help those in need, but is now on the verge of financial ruin. Now with the help of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Gerald and his family will have the opportunity to transform a community and turn their dream into a reality.

The Martinez’s new home was designed using KraftMaid custom cabinetry in many rooms, including the kitchen, where the dark brown Peppercorn was chosen to finish the oak cabinetry. Antiquity glass inserts were selected for the cabinet doors, with Oil rubbed Bronze hardware accenting the drawers. The laundry room was outfitted with maple cabinets, stained in KraftMaid’s Hazelnut Glaze, an off-white neutral color for this utility room.

The master bath was designed with Natural stained maple cabinets, completed with Oil Rubbed Bronze pulls. Finally the community kitchen area was equipped with maple cabinetry finished in the deep red Garnet Glaze stain. Hammered Copper knobs and pulls adorned the cabinets, which were highlighted by Antiquity glass door inserts.
