Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 5

Episode 25The Giunta Family

March 26, 2006 began as a day of joy for Paul and Renee Giunta when they finally had their baby girl, Brianna. Nine hours later Paul was in a serious, single car accident, suffering head injuries. As a result of the injuries, a stroke left him unable to walk. Unfortunately, Paul’s wheelchair does not fit through the doors of his home, and he was forced to live with his parents in their retirement home.

Besides needing the home to be more accessible, there are other problems as well. A tree root has broken the water pipes under the house and they now have sand in their water. They have recently developed large cracks on the ceilings and parts of their floors are coming up all around the house. In this episode of Extreme Makeover, the design team travels to Maynard, MA ’’A Small Town with a Big Heart’’ to reunite this dad with the family that he loves and misses so much.

The Guinta’s new home was designed to suite their needs, including KraftMaid cabinetry in many rooms throughout the house. The kitchen, living room and dining rooms were all outfitted with maple cabinets. The creamy, opaque Vanilla Bean Glaze finish was chosen for these rooms and was accented by Oil Rubbed Bronze hardware. Bistro glass inserts highlighted the doors of the dining room cabinetry.

Venicia by KraftMaid was chosen for other rooms in the new home including the children’s play room, where the cool tones of Mist Gloss were used on the Alta door style cabinets. In the laundry room, Onyx Gloss was the chosen finish for the Portia cabinetry, which was completed with Aluminum Half Round bar pulls. Finally the hair studio was designed with cabinetry from the Mirra collection, stained in the crisp, white Bianco Gloss and accented by Sterling Gloss.
