Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 12The Grys Family
Stephen Grys, a special education teacher and his wife Jean have been foster parents for 25 years, fostering over 250 children. Their adopted son, 8-year-old Jake Grys, suffers from Brittle Bone Disease and Dwarfism.
Jake’s greatest desire is to do things independently and safely. Physically he cannot get a drink, go to the bathroom, turn on a light or even open a door. In this episode, Ty and the Team travel to Illinois to rebuild a home for this special family and give their young son the independence he so greatly deserves.
Custom-built cabinetry by KraftMaid was selected for several rooms in the Grys new home. The kitchen is equipped with Dove White cabinetry crafted of maple wood. Bistro glass inserts accent the doors while Brushed Pewter hardware completes the cabinets. The master bath was designed with Chocolate-finished cherry wood cabinets, accented with Venetian Bronze drawer pulls and Timeless glass inserts. The laundry room, as well as an additional bathroom, were outfitted in KraftMaid's crisp, white Thermofoil cabinetry and capped off with the sleek Aluminum Round Bar pulls.
