Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 6

Episode 8The Frisch Family

After visiting poverty stricken Haiti on a mission trip, Jackie Frisch, an ordained minister, wanted to adopt five boys from an orphanage. She spoke to her husband Aaron, a firefighter, about her wish and without having met them he agreed to the adoption. Over the years, the Frisch family continued to adopt three more children, this time from their hometown of Toledo’s inner city. With three biological children and eight adopted children, this big hearted family of 13 is now living in a cramped one-story ranch home without air conditioning and windows and doors in need of many repairs.

Unfortunately, Jackie’s health is also deteriorating after having five surgeries and being diagnosed with a rare soft tissue disease. Jackie has had a series of strokes that left half of her body paralyzed. As a firefighter and paramedic in Toledo, Aaron has saved many lives and now needs help to save his family’s future from falling into jeopardy. In this episode of Extreme Makeover, Ty and his designers give the Frisch family the peace of mind that they will be able to stay together in a new home.

Custom KraftMaid cabinetry was installed in many rooms in the Frisch’s new home, including the kitchen, where the Ginger with Sable Glaze finish was selected. Aged Bronze hardware completed the kitchen’s new design, while Satin Nickel knobs accented the Biscotti stained cabinetry in the laundry room. The study was outfitted with oak wood cabinets, finished in the dark Kaffe stain with Satin Silver drawer pulls.

Cabinetry from KraftMaid’s Venicia line was selected for the bathrooms from the Mirra and Lustra collections. The deep red of Chianti Gloss was chosen for the first bathroom with Silverscreen glass inserts. In the second bath, the Tivoli door style was used and finished in Graphite Gloss. Aluminum hardware accented the sleek cabinetry in both bathrooms.
