Episode 10The Stott Family
Thanks to a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor, Joey Stott survived leukemia and made a miraculous recovery. She and her family then pursued their dream of life on a self-sufficient organic farm in their Illinois hometown. But just as they’d made their dreams a reality, an electrical fire threatened to destroy them permanently. The farmhouse’s ancient wiring was sparking and threatened the entire house. The fire department arrived quickly enough to save the structure, but warned that the same thing could happen again if the wiring weren’t totally replaced. But the family can’t afford to replace the home’s wiring. The fire department also had to knock down the walls to get to the electrical problems and now their home is full of gaping holes, and a lot of the furniture is ruined. The Stotts are currently living in the house, despite the dangers. Now the Extreme Makeover team rebuilds the Stott home in seven days and helps to get the farm up and running again.
The Stott’s new home comes well equipped with cabinetry by KraftMaid in many rooms including the kitchen, mudroom and office which were all designed with maple wood cabinets stained in Honey Spice, a favorite among KraftMaid customers. Brushed Pewter Cup pulls were affixed to accent the doors and drawers in these rooms as well. The clean look of the Vintage Dove White finish was used for the kitchen island and the pantry to highlight these work zones in the family’s hub. Cherry weave inserts and Stainless Steel hardware adorned the doors to complete the design.
