Season 7

Episode 11The Marshall Family

Life changed dramatically for the Marshall family in July 2008 when 8-year-old Cameron was diagnosed with leukemia. On the day of his diagnosis he learned that his blood type was B Positive and he decided he would adopt it as a personal motto to get him through this new journey. Since that day, Cameron has motivated others to become educated about leukemia and to help families who weren’t as fortunate as his own. The Marshall family has opened their home to parents who can’t afford hotels while their children were being treated at Children’s Hospital.

However, the Marshall’s home is rife with mold and water damage. Their furnace chimney is cracked and they have experienced high levels of carbon monoxide in the home. Insurance will not pay to fix the chimney, and they can’t afford to repair it or any of the damage the mold and leaks are causing. In addition their well water supply contains harmful levels of bacteria, a danger to Cameron, who has a weakened immune system due to his leukemia.

In this episode of Extreme Makeover, the team travels to New Hampshire to help the Marshall family build a safe and healthy home for Cameron as he struggles with leukemia and complete their dream of creating a non-profit organization to benefit ill children and their families.

KraftMaid donated products to the Marshall’s new home including cherry and maple wood cabinets in many rooms. The Peppercorn finish, a rich brown with black overtones was selected for the kitchen, mudroom and guest bathrooms. Aluminum Round Bar pulls were chosen to accent the doors while Satina glass inserts were used in the kitchen. In the master bathroom, maple cabinetry was chosen and stained in Dove White with Aluminum framed glass inserts to highlight the doors. Finally in the study, maple wood cabinets were stained in KraftMaid’s Natural finish and embellished with Aluminum hardware.
