Episode 12The Morris Family

Sixteen years ago, after the birth of her daughter, Sandy Morris left a promising career in the public school system to open a daycare within her community. Because most high-quality daycares were too expensive for her neighbors, Sandy found ways to run her daycare at a lower cost and charges just enough to support herself and her family. Sandy runs the daycare out of her 100-year-old home, which is falling apart. The numerous repairs needed to make the home safe threaten to shut down the daycare. In this episode of Extreme Makeover, the team travels to St. Paul to build a safe home that is a sanctuary for the Morris family and will enable the daycare to remain a center of community life and education.

The Morris’ new home as well as the daycare center was built with ample storage space including cabinetry by KraftMaid in several rooms. Maple wood cabinets were constructed in the daycare facility finished in Dove White with Stainless Steel hardware. The family’s new kitchen was designed using the neutral Canvas stain and Antiquity glass inserts for the cabinet doors. Sandy’s master bathroom was equipped with cherry cabinetry finished in Vintage Onyx with Satin Silver knobs and pulls. The rich Peppercorn stain was selected for the children’s bath area, where the cherry cabinets were embellished with Bistro glass inserts and Stainless Steel Bar pulls.
