Episode 8The Tripp Family
Nakema and Tamara Tripp are dedicated to children and teens in their community. For the past three years, they have led a ’’bus ministry’’, picking up neighborhood kids in their ’’big blue bus’’ to take them to their local church on Sundays and activities throughout the week. The church cannot afford to fund these activities, so it always comes out of the Tripp family’s own pocket. With their modest salaries as an electrician and teachers’ aide, they are left with almost nothing to make the necessary repairs on their tiny and dangerous home. At only 900 square feet, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom for a family of five. All three boys share a small bedroom. The plumbing leaked from the bathroom into the kitchen, causing an entire shelving unit to fall to the floor. The dining room ceiling caved in, which they were able to patch up, but water still leaks from the roof, through the walls, and into a basement that is filled with water. With the help of EMHE, the Tripp family will receive the much-needed repairs to their home so they can continue to make their neighborhood a better place.
KraftMaid custom cabinetry was donated for the Tripp’s new home and adjoining school. In the kitchen and master bath, cherry wood cabinets, stained in Cognac were selected and accented with Bistro glass inserts and Blackened Pewter hardware. The laundry area was designed with maple wood, where the cabinets were finished in Biscotti, a clean, neutral tone. In the basement, ample storage was provided by Dove White cabinets with Stainless Steel Bar pulls. The crisp Dove White was chosen for the school building as well. Plenty of maple wood cabinets with glass inserts and stainless steel hardware were outfitted for the Tripp’s to accommodate the children in their community.
