Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 17The Zeigler-Hansen Family
On November 5, 2009, a gunman fired more than 100 rounds at soldiers and civilians on base at Fort Hood, Texas. In the aftermath, 13 people were left dead and 32 others were wounded. Among those caught in the crossfire Patrick Zeigler, a soldier who had only returned from Iraq two weeks prior. On that ill-fated day, Zeigler was hit four times, with a near fatal gunshot to the head. Patrick’s life was forever changed. Upon hearing of his tragedy, fiance Jessica Hansen put her college degree on hold in order to be by Patrick’s side and to aid in his recovery. In this episode, the Extreme Makeover team travels to Fort Hood one year after tragedy struck the base to deliver a fresh start to this dedicated couple.
KraftMaid cabinetry was used in several rooms in the Zeiglers’ new home, including the kitchen and laundry areas. Maple wood cabinets were selected for the kitchen in Cardinal, KraftMaid’s classic, red painted finish. The island cabinetry was finished in Natural and Blackened Pewter Trunk knobs and pulls were used to accent the woodwork. Cardinal, a true red finish, was also chosen for the bathroom cabinets, where Aluminum Round Bar pulls and Bistro glass inserts adorned the doors. In the laundry room, cherry wood cabinetry was completed in Vintage Dove White with Cocoa Patina. The darker corners and recesses of this finish were accented by the Blackened Pewter decorative hardware.
