Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 18The Hall Family
Carl Hall, an All-American athlete in high school and college, married his high school sweetheart Stacy, and together they had four beautiful children. Carl became the ultimate American Dad, coaching his kids in every sport and encouraging them to succeed in any challenge they encounter. Then tragedy struck, giving Carl and his family the biggest challenge of their lives. Driving the family on a learner’s permit, their daughter Megan had an accident and caused the car to flip, leaving Carl paralyzed. In an instant, a man whose life had been defined by athletic achievement was left paralyzed from the shoulders down.
While the family valiantly strives to move on, their 2 story split-level house is now useless for Carl. Not only is it wheelchair inaccessible but Carl cannot even get past the entrance hall since there are stairs leading up and down immediately upon entry. In this episode the Extreme Team travels to Kansas to give this All-American athlete, who embodies the most rare kind of inspiration and gratitude, a new home that is accessible and comfortable.
KraftMaid cabinetry was donated for several rooms in the family’s new updated home. Maple cabinets were crafted for the kitchen and laundry room, finished in Caramel, a warm golden hue, and accented with Antique Pewter Trunk pulls. Honey Spice, KraftMaid’s most popular finish was used for the girl’s bathroom cabinetry, and embellished with Blackened Pewter Trunk knobs. The same hardware was chosen for the master bath, which was outfitted with Hickory wood cabinets stained in Rye.
