Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 8

Episode 4The Arboleda Family

After emigrating from the Philippines eight years ago, Rhex Arboleda has distinguished himself locally in Neenah, Wisconsin leading the movement to banish the childhood obesity epidemic. In 2004 he created ’’Move to the Groove,’’ a dance program designed to get both teachers and students on their feet and in shape. His award-winning dance program is currently being used in three elementary schools where health and wellness are a priority. Ironically Rhex’s own health and that of his family are compromised by the state of their own 70-year-old home. Despite their living conditions, the Aroboledas have a real appreciation for the country that has provided them a better way of life and a means to share in opportunity. The Extreme Team builds this family a new house and a renewed lease on life to continue wellness movement for children.

KraftMaid cabinetry was used to design much of the Arboleda’s new home, starting in the kitchen, where dual finish tones were selected. Vintage Dove White was chosen to finish the upper cabinetry, while Vintage Onyx stained the bases of the cherry woodwork. Distressed French Lace hardware and Penrose glass inserts accented the room. Maple wood cabinets were built in both the boys and girls bathrooms where the cool, crisp Dove White stain was adorned with sleek Stainless Steel Bar pulls.

Praline on Maple cabinets were outfitted for the laundry room while Hickory stained in Sunset was chosen for the master bath. Brushed Pewter knobs were used in both rooms to adorn accentuate the warm tones in these rooms. In the mud room, as well as the fireplace inglenook, cherry wood was finished in the deep brown Kaffe stain with Distressed French Lace door and drawer pulls.
