Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 6The Oregon School of the Deaf
The students at Oregon School for the Deaf (OSD) in Salem, Oregon, are well known for their annual Halloween haunted house fundraiser ’’The Nightmare Factory’’. The event, held in the basement of the boys’ dormitory, goes a long way toward generating much-needed income for the 140-year-old financially-strapped school, a place which students consider their second home. But the 12,000 square foot basement where the Nightmare Factory is usually held has become unsafe. In just seven days, the Extreme Makeover design team makes the OSD basement safe again and adds some spooky Halloween fun to this episode.
KraftMaid donated custom-built cabinetry for several areas of the newly remodeled school. Kitchen and laundry facilities were designed using Natural stained cabinets in Hickory and Birch. The kitchen cabinets were accented with Stainless Steel Bar pulls, while the laundry storage cabinets reflected Barnstead glass inserts and Matte Nickel Suitcase pulls.
Two bathrooms were outfitted with KraftMaid stylings as well, including one with Thermofoil doors, finished in Cream with Satin Nickel Dog Bone knobs and pulls. The second bath was designed with Cherry wood cabinetry stained in the rich Cognac and finished with Aluminum Round Bar pulls. Finally the always busy student computer lab was built with abundant Cherry cabinets finished in KraftMaid’s Vintage Onyx embellished with Stainless Steel hardware.
