Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 9The Anderson Family
Andre and Jasmine Anderson have never allowed their visual impairment to slow them down, but rather have faced it head on, and established the Disability Awareness Center in Maple Heights, Ohio, to help others who are struggling with sight loss to lead more independent lives. The Andersons are fully committed to their community, all while pursuing graduate degrees and raising their two sons, Jaison, 13, who is hearing impaired, and seven-year-old Jahzion. Every day the family face challenges in their cramped and structurally dangerous two-story home, which is so crowded, it’s hard to make room for Andre’s guide dog. In this episode the Extreme Team builds the Andersons a new smart home, equipped with technologies that support people with disabilities.
KraftMaid donated cabinetry for many rooms in the Andersons’ new home including the kitchen, great room and laundry rooms where the dark brown Peppercorn finish was used on cherry wood with Stainless Steel Bar pulls. In the office and meeting room, maple cabinets were stained in Dove White and accented with Stainless Steel hardware. The master bath was equipped with cherry cabinetry finished in Chocolate with Ebony Glaze. Satin Silver hardware embellished the doors as well as Bistro glass inserts.
