Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Season 9

Episode 13Gibbs Family

Losing a quarter of her brain from five major brain aneurysms has left Audrey Gibbs legally blind, and unsure of the future. A widow, Audrey fights to stay alive for the sake of her six kids. She was a cosmetologist, but on learning that she was going blind, she decided to study massage therapy as a career she could still practice after losing her sight. She has three sons over eighteen who are devoted to their younger siblings and have pledged to take care of them should the worst happen to their mother. But Audrey worries about their future.

They live in a dilapidated house on the farm she rents to local farmers for extra income. The older boys are still working to get settled in their careers and there is no money for the younger kids for college. And the kids are all still dealing with the death of their father and the possible loss of their mother. So this week, Ty and the team travel to Iowa to give the Gibbs family a home that offers more security for the future.

KraftMaid cabinets provide beautiful storage throughout the new home. Mandolay (PVB1) Birch cabinets are built into the spacious kitchen. The master bathroom features Halstead (HLC1) Cherry in Vintage Dove White. The Mandolay (PVM1) style is repeated in Maple in the laundry room. And Garrison Square (AB1C1) Cherry in Vintage Onyx organizes the new mud room.
