It all began with a television producer’s phone call asking KraftMaid to help a deserving family in need of a fresh start. Seasons later, we are proud to remain the exclusive cabinetry provider of ABC’s award-winning program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Episode 4Korpai Family
After giving birth to a child with dwarfism, Darlene Korpai and her husband Jimmy turned their attention to advocating for their little girl, Hailey. As President and Vice President of the New York chapter of Little People of America, their goal is to erase ignorance, increase understanding and give families of little people support and help.
On a more personal level, they dream of having a home that offers their daughter independence and autonomy, so she can grow from a happy-go-lucky five-year-old girl into a strong adult who can rely on herself and not let her size deter her from pursuing life with the same ener gy and joy she has now. They also dream of an accessible facility that would allow them to host events and meetings for LPA all year.
Ty and the team head to Bloomingburg, New York to build a house the whole family (including one-year-old brother Hudson) can use together. Hailey gets her own bedroom and bathroom designed just for her, and the rest of the house is designed for universal access, such as in the kitchen where Hailey (who loves to bake) can work alongside her average-sized parents.
The Korpai’s new kitchen features KraftMaid Square Recessed Panel - Veneer (NT) cabinets in Antique Chocolate w/Mocha Glaze finish, and an island in Honey Spice w/Mocha highlights.
