Meet the Designer Full

Steven Miller is the mastermind behind the House Beautiful 2014 Kitchen of the Year featuring KraftMaid® cabinetry. He is best known for his sophisticated style, which is enlivened by a sense of fun and whimsy.

Miller attended the California College of Arts (CCA). After earning a degree in Interior Architecture, he began his professional career in the office of distinguished designer Gary Hutton. He worked closely with him on high-profile projects and helped launch what was to become a successful national furniture line.

After six years in Hutton's office, Miller branched out on his own and founded Steven Miller Design Studio (SMDS). Today, the company provides interior design services for every stage of design development for both residential and commercial spaces. SMDS consistently turns out original interiors, from traditional and elegant to modern and outrageous.

"We all know intuitively that life is better when we live, work or play in a beautiful space," says Miller. "Designers get to make that happen. It's a privilege and a challenge - and for me, a joy."
